	An exhibition of sculpture and drawings by GREG JAMES Opening 2pm, Sunday 8 May 2011 Exhibition dates: 8th May - 7th August 2011
	This Mountford Gallery exhibition of Greg James' work consists of charcoal drawings and sculptural pieces from various stages of Greg's work, including the recent 'Peace' series. Greg was the first artist I met on my arrival from England and I was immediately drawn to the purity of  his work.  My subsequent visits to Greg's Fleet Street studio in Fremantle have been a joy, particularly watching him at work. Greg James is known primarily for his public works such as 'Bon Scott' and 'The Fishermen', Fishing Boat Harbour, Fremantle or 'The Unknown Photographer' on St. Georges Terrace, Perth.  Recently Greg's 'Coast Guard' was selected for the Sculpture By The Sea exhibitions at Bondi Beach 2010 and at Cottesloe in March 2011, where it dominated from the end of the groyne. Greg states that the source of his work is people; individuals, historical events or abstracts from the human condition. When viewing Greg's public works or his life-sized bronzes in private collections, for example 'Jess' or the 'Iris' series his deep engagement with his medium is tangible.
